What’s the quality you most look for in other people? In yourself?

Determination and kindness. My most meaningful relationships have often been built in moments of raw honesty — sharing stories of rejection, failure, and dreams spoken only in whispers. These moments remind me how we are our own toughest critics. Yet, it’s those who can quiet the doubt, rise again, and keep striving who inspire me the most. As for kindness, I learned its impact as a barista in high school. Small gestures — a smile, a free pastry, or simply remembering someone’s name — could transform even the hardest days. It’s a reminder that compassion, no matter how small, has the power to leave a lasting mark.

What food reminds you of home and why?

Granadillas, arroz con pato, chicha morada, mushy peas, beans on toast — delicious flavors tied to cherished memories from my Peruvian and British homes.

Reading fantasy novels, horseback riding, exploring farmers’ markets, or perhaps painting pottery gnomes.
